Brian Berlew Obituary
He was born in Avoca on Dec. 1, 1964, and was the son of David "Botchum" Berlew and the late Ann (Ryan) Berlew.
Brian was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca (St. Mary's Church). He was a 1983 graduate of Pittston Area High School. Brian worked many years at the Pittston Area School District. He was a member of the Avoca Jolly Boy's, the West Side Social Club, Avoca, the Dupont Polish Club, the Avoca American Legion, the Avoca VFW and the Rainbow Rod and Gun Club.
"Ice" was an avid sports fan, he loved Notre Dame football, the Denver Broncos and the Washington Nationals. Ice was a very kind and compassionate gentleman, he was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend and he will be deeply missed.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Berlew; and his niece, Susanne Dente.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his sisters, Susan Dente, Avoca; Sandy Loftus and her husband, Robert, Avoca; Sharyn Chisdock and her husband, Michael, Avoca; Ann Horger and her husband, Peter, Tunkhannock; and Maureen O'Brien, Avoca. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Queen of the Apostles Church, Hawthorne Street, Avoca, with the Rev. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call for visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Care and Concern Pediatric Health Clinic, 35 William St., Pittston, PA 18641.
Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
