Carl: Patty and I wish to express our sympathy to you for your loss. Losing a parent is something for which you can never prepare. There never seems to be enough time to brace for the shock, regardless of the circumstances.
I always enjoyed talking with your father. He reminded me very much of my own relatives, now also gone.
We are keeping you in our prayers, and hope in the future that you and your family can return to a joyful Thanksgiving holiday.
