Carl J. Shymanski of Larksville died suddenly and unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Carl Shymanski and Gloria Bassler Shymanski, of Florida, and was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School. Carl served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as an electrician and was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and fixing and building things. Carl was a handyman's handyman, glad to help anyone with home repairs who always "forgot" to leave a bill for his services.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his nephews, Brian and Michael Urban.
Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his mother, is his loving wife, Nancy Coyne; son, Paul Shymanski and his wife, Lynn, Forty Fort; daughter, Carla Yatsko and her husband, Robert, Harding; grandchildren, Aiden and Lily Shymanski; and Abigail, Alyvia and Robbie Yatsko; sister, Gloria Urban and her husband, Clarence, Florida; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville, with the Rev. Gerald Gurka officiating.

I first met Carl in the fall of 1970, stationed on board the USS Simon Lake AS33 at the shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. We worked as electricians on the ship. When our ship arrived in Charleston, South Carolina in July 1971, Carl shared a trailer with me and another electrician from Florida. There were 8 of us living in trailers side by side. We all became good friends quickly as we worked together, and spent our time off the ship together. After Carl married Nancy he found a trailer a few miles from us and Nancy fit right in with all of us. When Paul was born in July 1972, we all became honorary uncles. After our discharge, we visited and kept in touch. 50 years have gone by and we all keep in touch and are still friends. My condolences to Nancy and her family. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
