Carol A. Melluzzo, 77, a resident of Forty Fort, entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family Sunday morning, Oct. 9, 2022, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.
Born March 31, 1945, in Pittston, Carol was the daughter of the late Rita Himlin Redden, and the granddaughter of late James and Helen Himlin, both of whom were instrumental in raising her.
A graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1963, Carol was employed for 17 years as a data entry clerk for the Social Security Administration, Wilkes-Barre, retiring from there in 2012. In her earlier years, she was employed in the bakery of Acme Market at their former location in the Midway Shopping Center, Wyoming.
Deeply rooted in her faith, Carol was a past member of the former Holy Name of Jesus Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Carol's faith and family were at the center of her life. She truly treasured every moment she shared with her loved ones, and she enjoyed cooking and baking for them, especially at the holidays. Although her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her beloved family.
In addition to her mother, Rita Himlin Redden, and her grandparents, James and Helen Himlin, Carol was preceded in death by her three brothers, Harry Redden, Gerald Redden and Patrick Redden.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Joseph Melluzzo Jr., Willow Grove; and Gina Giardina and her husband, Salvatore, Exeter; two grandchildren, Nicholas Giardina and Marissa Giardina, both of Exeter; two brothers, John Redden and David Redden, both of Chester; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday from Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. Monsignor John J. Sempa, family friend and pastor of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and friends are invited to attend Carol's viewing which will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and again from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Gina and family, I am so saddened to learn of your mom's passing. I sat across from her for several years at Social Security. We shared many heart to heart conversations as well as a lot of laughter. She was a very nice person that I will never forget. May she rest in peace.
