Christine Wydick of Shannon Street, Wilkes-Barre Twp., peacefully passed into heaven on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, while visiting her family in Wisconsin.
Born Nov. 5, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisc., Chris was the daughter of the late Anthony and Dorothy (Pietrowiak) Pocian. She attended St. Josaphat and Milwaukee area schools and served as an admin clerk, stationed at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. She was a proud veteran.
Chris was a talented dancer and portrayed those talents through her work at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Milwaukee. She retired from the engineering department at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Plains Twp. She loved to do genealogy with her sisters, volunteer at church and the Senior Craft Shop and travel with her husband and daughters.
Over many years, she made thousands of quilts that were donated to the children's hospitals, as well as rosaries that she donated to various organizations and the military. Chris's life revolved around her family. She was always there for anyone who needed her help. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt anyone could ask for. We will miss her more than words can express.
Surviving are her daughters, Carrie Gavel (Bernard), Bear Creek; and Sandra Dervin (Robert), Edwardsville; grandchildren, David Centi (Amy Lynn), Bear Creek; Alan Centi (Erin), Sweet Valley; and Robert Dervin Jr., Edwardsville; great-grandsons, Giovanni Anthony and Brody Centi; brothers, Gary Pocian (Sharon), Anthony Pocian (Sue Simmonson) and Dwayne Pocian (Betty); sisters, Kathleen Upson, Janice Depies (Gerald) and Corrine Pocian; brother-in-law, Dave Kollmansberger; sisters-in-law, Carol Kashuba and Jean Pocian; dear cousin, Catherine Bat (Tom); and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Chris in death were her husband of 51 years, Stephen Joseph Wydick; parents, Anthony and Dorothy Pocian; brothers, Jack Pocian, Dennis Pocian and Terrence Pocian; sister, Joyce (Pocian) Kollmansberger; brothers-in-law, Michael Kashuba and Ray Upson; sister-in-law, Sherry Pocian; parents-in-law, Stephen J. (Peg) and Anna Wydick; and her dear aunt, Helen Kalinowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. John S. Terry, pastor, will be celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to service time.
The family would like to thank Randi Todorov with the Washington County Medical Examiner's Office for her care and compassion during this unexpected time.
Donations would be greatly appreciated by the family to the charity of your choice, instead of sending flowers.

Deepest sympathies to the family of Christine Wydick. She was a wonderful person. It was her love of Genealogy that sparked my own interest in it. We will all miss her very much.
