Clifford J. Foss, 79, of Swiftwater, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at his home.
He was born in Kingston on June 13, 1941. Known as Sam to his friends, he was the son of the late Clifford Knight and Mary Slatky Foss. He graduated from Westmoreland High School and served in the Navy aboard the USS Harwood.
He operated Sam's Plumbing and Heating, Mountainhome, for many years. He was an avid fisherman and motorcycle enthusiast.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Cheryl Foss Kobal.
Sam is survived by his companion, Annie VanLoan, Swiftwater; daughters, Angel Woodcock and husband, Michael, Spotsylvania, Va.; Sandra Werley and husband, Lanny, Leesport; and Mary Foss-Ingram, Brickerville; brother, Kollin and wife, Eileen; sister, Debbie; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., state Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Kenneth Brown, pastor of Maple Grove United Methodist Church, officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Twp.
