Doris M. Fine, 92, of Exeter, passed into the hands of our Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, in Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Exeter.
Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Helen Nicholson Evans, of Harding. She graduated from West Pittston High School and was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, West Pittston.
Doris worked at the Rex Shoe Company as an inspector until its closing and then at the United Rehab Service for 10 years as a supervisor.
She loved spending time with her family and friends. When you were a friend of Doris, you were a friend for life. She kept in touch with friends from when they were young kids.
Doris loved to play her crossword puzzles and also knit placemats, coasters and hand towels for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fine; son, Russell Fine; sisters, Grayce Evans and Margaret Morrison; brother, Donald Evans; daughter-in-law, MariClaire Fine.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Alyse Roote and her husband, Robert; Sandra Bartos and her husband, Robert; sister, Ruth Sands and husband, Nate; grandchildren, Sara Cyprich and husband, Cole; Russell Fine and wife, Beth; Henry Roote and wife, Jennifer; Laura Liporila and husband, Stephen; Jason Fine and wife, Katrina; Tim Fine and companion, Kate; Matt Fine and wife, Lily; Eric Bartos; and Mitchell Roote; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, Rocco, Samson, Aurora, Jessica, Dominic, Victoria, Jackson, Rhett, Elizabella, Billie, Benjamin, Cody and Aiden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday from Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston, with the Rev. Robert Henderson officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to service time. Interment will be private in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Harding.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
