Dorothy Irene Lapasnick, 86, of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, in Residential Hospice In-Patient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born June 22, 1935, in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Wallo Kachmar. She graduated from Kingston High School and worked for the Social Security Administration as a data entry clerk, prior to retirement. She was a devoted wife, traveling to several different countries while her husband served in the U.S. Air Force.
Dorothy was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, and a dedicated member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen, as she enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. She was always making enough to share with her family and friends.
Dorothy loved gardening and crocheting. She was a thoughtful and nurturing person who loved to share items of interest like recipes and news articles. As a night owl, she could always be counted on for a late night visit or conversation. She taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren card games and loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lapasnick Sr.; and brother, Michael Kachmar.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Dombroski and her husband, Mike, Dallas; son, Robert F. Lapasnick Jr. and his wife, Colleen, Dallas; grandchildren, Jennifer and Carl Sgarlat; Michael and Connie Dombroski; Christina Dombroski; Robert F. Lapasnick III; and Rebecca Lapasnick; great-grandchildren, Emma, Sam and Luke Sgarlat; and Michael Dombroski III; siblings, Andrew (Donna) Kachmar; Betty (Paul) Ridolpho; Marie Preston; Elaine Michaels; and Dolores (Matt) Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews; granddogs, Brutus, Addie and Kevin.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Commonwealth Home Health and the staff of the Residential Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre for their excellent care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas.
