Dorothy P. Sheraski

Dorothy P. Sheraski, 83 of Plains Twp., passed away peacefully at home Saturday, July 22, 2017, surrounded by her family and friends and attended by the visiting angels.

Born in Plains Twp., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sophia Pritch Sheraski. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1951, and a 1954 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. In 1961 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from College Misericordia, Dallas.

Dorothy served as a registered nurse for more than 30 years at Mercy Hospital, where she was instrumental in the establishment and supervision of the intensive care and cardiac care units. For many years she also served as the evening nurse for Dr. Peter Andrews Sr. of Wilkes-Barre. Prior to her retirement she was a visiting nurse for Mercy Home Health.

Dorothy was a devout member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church of Plains Twp. and the Sacred Heart Reunion Committee.

Dorothy was a bright and articulate woman who enjoyed sharing her knowledge and life experiences with multi generations of her family. She expressed great pride and delight in the many accomplishments and successes of her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Preceding her in death were a sister, Florence Gill, and brother, Charles Sheraski.

Surviving are a sister, Bernardine Yoschak, Metuchen, N.J.; sister-in-law, Joan Sheraski, Plains Twp.; nieces; nephews; and many cousins

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Twp.

Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Plains Twp.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
