Edward Krupa Obituary

Edward Joseph Krupa Sr., 83, of Mountain Top joined his beloved wife in eternal life as he passed away quietly with his family by his side on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Born March 8, 1938, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna Krisanda Krupa. He married Margaret "Peggy" Morris on Sept. 5, 1958. Together they raised their seven children: Peggy (Willie) Johnson, Lori (Mike) Abramcheck, Ed Krupa Jr., Frank Krupa, Marijo (Pat) Munley, James (Erin) Krupa, and Nick Krupa and companion Amanda Lettner.

Remembering their Poppy/Pops are 17 grandchildren, Jason Kline and companion, Jessica Guzenski; Lauren (Scott) Roman; Brooke O'Rourke and fiancé, Tom Senape; Annie Abramcheck; Matthew Krupa; Michael Abramcheck; Willie and Eddie Johnson; Jackie and Frankie Krupa; Maggie Johnson; Hailey Krupa; Kaylin and Declan Munley; Jacob Krupa; Madelyn and Abbey Krupa; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan Roman, Kingsley and Kobe Anderson. Sisters, Mary Ann (John) Ostrowski, and Gloria Gomb. Brother-in-law, David (Theresa) Morris, and his "lady friend" Carol Reisenweaver.

Ed was a 1955 graduate of Ashley High School. He was a former employee of both his Uncle Paul's soft drink company, Mission Orange, as well as Air Products. In his 43 years at Certainteed/Saint-Gobain Corporation he worked his way up to the furnace (hot end) & fiberizing manager, where he attained multiple achievements including a Presidential Award for Excellence in his field of expertise in fiberizing, Insulation Innovator Hall of Fame, Creativity Innovation, Outstanding Achievement in Optimizing the Fiberizing Process at the Mountain Top plant and Assisting the Insulation Group in Furthering Spinner & Furnace Life, and a team patent request for duct board having two facings.

Ed also served in the Army Reserves maintenance unit from the former Plains Twp. site.

As a devoted member of St. Jude Church, Ed served as a Eucharistic minister and was a past member of the Holy Name Society. Ed also achieved the 4th degree of St. Jude Knight of Columbus #6440. He always made sure the church and school had insulation for their earlier building projects. Ed also volunteered for Mountain Top Little League Baseball and was a longtime blood donor.

Ed was a pillar of strength and he was most grateful for spending time with family. You could always find Poppy on the sidelines cheering on his grandchildren. The family home was built from the ground up by Ed and he enjoyed when everyone visited for family and neighborhood gatherings. Ed was always generous with his time. Family and neighbors appreciated his knowledge of whatever needed fixing. He touched the lives of many and will truly be missed and remain in everyone's hearts.

Along with his wife and parents, his beloved sister, Rosemary Strish; brother, Thomas Krupa; sister and brother-in-in-law, Nancy (Morris) and Joe Krincek, brother-in-law, Alfred Gomb preceded him in death.

Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Jude Church, 420 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

I'm sorry to hear the passing of Ed . As a young co worker, Ed was a major influence for me professionally as a mentor and friend. He taught me many things and I always had a deep respect for him as as person who really loved his family. I feel blessed to have known him and God bless him always.

When I was a child, Uncle Eddy always welcomed his sister Mary Ann and family to visit up Mountain Top. My brothers and sisters were always eager to see what our cousins would engage us with at their place. Whether swimming, playing hide & seek, or later playing basketball with him in the game, we always had fun. While the adults would discuss whatever adults discuss, we´d run wild. Good memories.

Rest in peace Uncle Eddy and happy reunion with Aunt Peggy and your siblings who preceeded you.
