Emily Rose Goliash, 97, a life resident of Swoyersville, passed peacefully into eternal life Thursday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2023, at The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, where she had been a guest since April.
Her beloved husband of 29 years was the late Thomas R. Goliash, who passed away June 26, 1976.
Born on May 30, 1926, in Swoyersville, Emily was one of eight children born to the late Stephen and Anna Krakosky.
Prior to her retirement, Emily was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, and held membership with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Skilled at her trade, Emily loved fashioning clothing not only for herself, but also for her family.
A faithful life member of Holy Trinity Church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, Emily held membership with the church's Altar and Rosary Society and Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and was an active volunteer at her church, most notably assisting with pierogi-making for various fundraisers and helping at its annual bazaar.
Kind-hearted, caring and selfless, Emily never forgot anyone's birthday or an anniversary, and, for many years, she and her sister, Evelyn, would take time on Sundays to visit with their homebound family members and friends.
Emily was known for her patriotism – she lived by the motto of "faith, family, and flag." She loved cooking and baking for her family, and always had a green thumb when it came to her annual vegetable and flower garden.
In addition to her parents and husband, Emily was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Krakosky and George Krakosky; and her sisters, Mary Saxon, Margaret Goliash, Rose Kosco, Evelyn "Pink" Nawrocki, and Anna Kosco.
Emily is survived by generations of nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved with all her heart.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. Richard J. Cirba, family friend, officiating. The Confraternity of Christian Mothers of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish will recite the rosary at 9 a.m. Thursday.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and friends are invited to attend Emily's viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Sincere condolences to the family of Aunt Emily. When we were kids, we always had a big birthday celebration on her birthday, which was Memorial Day, or (Decoration Day), since it fell on the actual day, and not on the Monday holiday that was later created. Along with my cousins, we watched the JFK funeral in her small TV room, and we always had a huge New Years Eve party in her basement. Many fond memories were created around her great cooking, especially the pagatch. RIP Aunt Emily.
