Florence Boyer, 88, of Plains Twp., passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021.

She was born March 28, 1933, in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, to Joseph and Sophie Manko.

Florence was a 1950 graduate from Kingston High School, where she met her sweetheart, Barry C. Boyer. They were married on Sept. 5, 1953, in Nescopeck. Florence lived with her in-laws, Charles and Mary Boyer, while Barry was deployed to Italy during the Korean War. During her earlier years, Florence worked at WILK as an audio editor.

She and her husband shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. They enjoyed a lifetime friendship with Larry and Joan Ferraro, getting together for weekly dinners, vacationing and celebrating the holidays. They had a passion for golfing and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Fox Hill Country Club and The Vineyards CC, Naples, Fla. Florence's highlight at The Vineyards was hitting a hole-in-one.

Florence is survived by her three children; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; son, Barry Boyer Jr., Plains Twp.; grandson, Sean Boyer and significant other, Amber Lenahan; great-granddaughter, Taylor Boyer; daughter, Kimberly Boyer, Fulton, Md.; grandchildren, Alana and Shane Schrecengost; daughter, Michelle and son-in-law, Andy Mudrock, Elysburg; and granddaughters, Julia and Lauren Mudrock.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; and seven siblings.

The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff from Geisinger and Allied Hospice for providing care and comfort to Florence throughout her stay.

Visitation for the immediate family will take place Friday at Hugh B. Hughes Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, followed by a religious service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Shrine Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to The St. Joseph's Center, 210 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
