Gerald "Jerry" C. Gruver Jr., 63, of Kingston Twp., passed away peacefully at home Nov. 30, 2021, after a short battle with cancer.

Jerry was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and grew up in Drums before moving to Kingston Twp. He graduated from Hazleton High School, Pennsylvania State University and College Misericordia.

Jerry was a lifelong Penn State football fan. He also got involved in the Valley ATV club and became the president for the last few years. He enjoyed his ATV trips and made many friends doing something he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Alesi Gruver; parents, Jerry and Alice Gruver; sister, Margaret Meyers; sister-in-law, Angela (Jay) Hopko; brother-in-law, Tony (Kim) Alesi; various nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday from Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.

My heartful sympathy to Cathy and the entire family. As a co-worker, I was privileged to work with Jerry and occasionally share the lunch table with him. He was a gentle giant with a warm heart who never hesitate to help people. He will be missed by many.
