Geraldine Politz Hooper, 75, of Hanover Twp., went home to be with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her loving family Sunday, March 20, 2022, after courageously battling a long illness.
Gerri was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy Reiner Politz. She was a graduate of Hanover Twp. High School, Class of 1964. She dedicated her life to taking care of her home and her family, spending her time gardening and crafting. She enjoyed volunteering as a assistant Girl Scout leader, a PTA mom and for many years she was an officer in the Newtown Fire Company Auxiliary.
Gerri found strength in her faith, often keeping many prayer books around the house to share daily prayers with others. She found joy in making others laugh and never had any trouble doing so with her wonderful sense of humor. She never forgot to send a birthday card and with her astonishing ability to remember, she was always happy to share old memories and stories. She enjoyed travelling and with her beloved husband by her side went on countless trips and adventures.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Michael Politz and Nicholas Politz; infant brother, James; sisters-in-law, Edith Politz, Beverly Politz and Marcia Politz; brother-in-law, Daniel Kraynak; nephews, Danny Kraynak and Matthew Politz; niece, Jessica Williams; and dearest friend, Mary Rodel Dunn; all of whom she knew would be waiting to greet her at heaven's gates.
She is survived by the love of her life and devoted husband, Thomas, with whom she shared 57 beautiful years of marriage, laughter and adventure; her children, Thomas (Tami), Mountain Top; Arlene Hooper-Walsh (Mike), Hanover Twp.; Linda Hooper-Bukoski (Dave), Hanover Twp.; her grandchildren, Zachary and Molly; David (DJ) and Alex; Dana, Josh, Jadyn; her great-grandchildren, Eli and Claire; her siblings, Tommie, Joseph (Rose) and Joyce Kraynak; and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank her nurse, Mary Louise Degnan (Bayada) and her doctors, Dr. James Brady (GWV) and Dr. Joshua Grimm (HUP) for the care, support and compassion they showed her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Leo the Great Parish, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley, with the Rev. Vincent Dang officiating. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to service time.
Arrangements are by George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 North Main St., Ashley.

We will love and miss you forever. You weren´t supposed to go so soon mama!! I have to accept this and the only thing that is helping me make it through this is because you are no longer in pain. I held your hand until the end. You were there with me when I took my first breath and I was with you when you took your last. I am so thankful my boys had so many amazing years with you and have so many good memories to pass on to their kids one day. You were the best mother and grandmother and I know you are in heaven with all the people who went before you and I know they all welcomed you back home. Please watch over us. I will always be your baby. Love you mean it. Lumi!!

Her voice is forever with me--clear, powerful, and beautiful--electrifying an auditorium full of students at Hanover High School. She sent chills through all of us with her magnificent gift of song. I am so sorry for your loss.
