James Leo Kilgallon, "Dad," "Jimmy," "Jim," "Grandpa Jim" and "Kink," as he was known to those who knew and loved him, died unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 67 on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at his home.
Jim was a man full of life until the end. He was a tree trimmer his entire life, recently retiring from Asplundh Tree Expert and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He continued to help his family and friends with tree work until the day he died. He loved being outdoors and was hiking and walking until the end. He also loved to ride his bike, ski and vacation at the Jersey Shore. He was always there for anyone who needed him and was at every one of his granddaughters' shows, concerts, games, meets and events. He was always there and will be sorely missed.
Jim was born in Philadelphia on April 16, 1954, to the late Leo and Mildred Vivian Kilgallon. He lived most of his life in Wilkes-Barre and Plymouth and had attended E. L. Meyers High School.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Maria "Mimi" Paolucci Kilgallon.
Jim is survived by his sons, James Kilgallon and his wife, Traci; Christopher Kilgallon and his partner, Sara Springer; granddaughters, Emma and Isabel Kilgallon; sister, Linda Burke; his girlfriend, Cynthia Cramer; former wife, Barbara Kilgallon; sister-in-law, Lynn Dougherty and her husband, William; nephews, Robert Burke and his wife, Jacqueline; Michael Burke and his wife, Amanda; niece, Jennifer Dougherty Chabala; nephew, William Dougherty Jr.; great-nephews, Sean and Liam Burke; and his many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Carol Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Chris and Sara- we are thinking of you and your family at this sad time while remembering the nice memories of the times we were able to share when Jim was visiting you in Colorado. We always enjoyed his focus on the outdoors and talking with him. We hope you will use the support of your family and friends during this difficult time and in the months ahead while remembering a life lived well...

My sincere sympathy for the untimely loss of your loved one. I only met him briefly once when he came to his sister Linda's rescue when she had car trouble. I was a class mate of Linda's at Meyers. May God grant you comfort in your grief.
