John S. Guchanyk Jr., 87, of Edwardsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Jan 4, 2022.
Born in Edwardsville, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary Ancin Guchanyk.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, the late Nancy Farrell Guchanyk.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked on the railroad and later at Native Textiles until he retired.
John loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
John loved to cook. He took great joy in sharing his recipes and cooking techniques. Nothing made him happier than to feed you. He was the proud uncle that could always be counted on to cook for baby showers and graduation parties.
Uncle John also served as family videographer for all family functions, none of which escaped his comic commentary. He was that uncle and loved for it.
He will be missed by his brother, Stephen Guchanyk; and his many nieces and nephews.
Private family visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville, with the Rev. Gerald Gurka officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lehman Twp.
