John Leon Oldziejewski

John Leon Oldziejewski, 80, of Mountain Top passed away at home Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Edmund and Julia Oldziejewski. The family moved to Mountain Top, where John attended Greenwood school in Dorrance and Stivers school in Rice Township. He graduated from Fairview Township High School. John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on several ships and at Naval Bases in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

He was the last surviving founder of the Nuangola Volunteer Fire Department. John was employed by Ruckno Construction Co., and retired in 2004. He loved polka music, was an avid dart shooter and enjoyed spending time with his pet Dashound Gretchen.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his first wife, Doris Morgan Oldziejewski; and second wife, Dollie Wallace Oldziejewski; a brother Edmond Oldziejewski; and son-in-law, Gene Edwards.

Surviving are his children, Jo Marie Wallace, with whom he resided; Linda Pacewicz and husband, Stan, Bear Creek; Joann Lewis, Florida; Tammy Edwards, Blytheburn; and Earl Wallace and wife, Elaine, Blytheburn; grandchildren, Timothy Pacewicz, James and Kerry Lewis, Michelle Osowski and husband, Ray; Elizabeth Edwards, Justin Wallace and wife, Felicia; and Adam Wallace, great-grandchildren, Aidan, Owen and Luke; sisters, Irene Oldziejewski, Blytheburn; and Ellie Heck and husband Don, Allentown; brothers, Ted and wife, Midge and Marty and wife, Chong, all of Blytheburn.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Christ United Methodist Church, Mountain Top. Interment will follow in the Albert Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from noon until the time of service at the church. McCune Funeral Service Inc. is handling the arrangements.
