Jay was a super nice guy, good technician and mechanic, and knew his onions about VW's. I especially enjoyed his hometown down-to-earth presentation speech for the annual scholarship he sponsored at St. Jude's, during my son's graduation in 2012. I hadn't seen him in years, or since, but he didn't change a bit. Will be sadly missed- another old time Mt. Topper. RIP Jay, you were one of the good guys. See you on the other side. My sympathies and regards to his wife, family- Charles Nudo

Dear Bettyann and Family,
We will all miss your wonderful husband "Jay" all around the Mountain from St. Jude Church, stores, walking Route 309 early in the morning going to Daily Mass and walking home. Always having the most interesting conversations. His intelligence was most impressive! Always happy and jolly. People came from all over this Country for VW parts and needs. He certainly had a LIFE well lived. And, Bettyann, you certainly have a LIFE time of treasured memories.
Jay is smiling being at peace with our Lord and His Blessed Mother. May God keep you and your family in His tender loving care during your time of sorrow.
We are keeping you in our daily prayers. God bless!
Sincerely, Pete and Ann Marie Bruno

Deepest condolences to Mrs. Schmidt and the family. Mr. Schmidt (Jay) was such a presence in so many lives, whether the St Jude school children or amongst all the parishioners of St. Jude's. He never forgot a name, always made it a point to say hello and ask about the family and all the kids. He loved hearing about everyone.
He will be missed by so many. Have missed seeing him in church over the past few months.
May he be at peace with God now.

Our Deepest Sympathy to Betty Ann and all of Jay's family. We both were friends with Jay who lived behind Walters mothers home.
Jay was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. We saw him alot in St. Jude's Church. We are so shocked at his passing. Will always remember him walking back and forth to Church.
