Josephine Latoszewski Obituary

Josephine "Jo" Latoszewski, 89, of Larksville, passed away surrounded by her loving family Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at her home.

Born Feb. 1, 1933, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Alexander P. Kormas and Lottie Walski Kormas. Josephine was a graduate of Meyers High School and, in her midyears, she attended Luzerne County Community College.

She was a member of All Saints Parish, Plymouth. In past years, Josephine had been involved in many church functions and activities in St. Mary's Nativity Church and Holy Child School, Plymouth, including the school PTA.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a secretary and held clerical roles for various companies over the years. She was an accomplished accordionist and a student of Brunon Kruger, a local polka band leader.

Her greatest joy was in spending time with her grandchildren. They were the lights of her life.

Josephine loved to travel, especially to visit her children and grandchildren. She was an exceptional seamstress for her family, making ballet costumes over the years for her ballerina daughters as well as for ballet schools and companies. She was a great cook and found great happiness feeding her family during gatherings.

Josephine was the matriarch of her family. She thought it was important to pass on ethnic traditions to her children. She was motivated by the love she had for her family and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Latoszewski on Oct. 7, 2002; and her grandson, Jason Yankosky, on May 29, 2010.

Surviving are her loving daughters, Christine Herron (John), Mountain Top; Janice Lee (Larry), Hyattsville, Md.; Diane Petry (Brian), Mountain Top; Rita Kurtz (Barnett), Plains Twp.; Karen Strohl (Myles), Naples, Fla.; and Nancy Greyeyes (Michael), Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Aaron Lee, Danielle Petry, Alex Lee, Rachel Davis, John Herron, Connor Strohl, Carson Strohl, Eva Greyeyes and Lilia Greyeyes; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nora Davis, and Aria, Alyssa, Andrew and Alec Lee; and brother, Alexander T. Kormas (Monica), Hunlock Creek.

Family and friends are invited to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in All Saints Parish, Plymouth. Interment will be in St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth Twp. Arrangements are entrusted to S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Saints Parish, Plymouth, for memorial Masses in Josephine's name.

Dear Chrissy,

I pray for your Mom and Dad everyday. I really liked your mother a lot. The last time we were together, was at Aunt Stella Zuzel´s funeral. We sat together, and we had a great talk. I miss her. Thinking of her today on her anniversary.

May God keep both your Mother and Father in His Sacred Hands forevermore.

Love,
Mary Elaine Pilok Corallo

Dear Chrissy,

I pray for your Mom and Dad everyday. I will never forget her wonderful personality, love that she showed me, her wonderful meals, and loved talking to her. I miss her, but I know she is with Our Blessed Lord, and would not want to return here on earth. She was a great person.

Love,
Mary Elaine and Joe Corallo.

Dear Chrissy and the whole family,

I just found out about the passing of your mother, and I feel your grief.

I really liked her a lot. She was so nice to me when I came over your house, and her cooking was so good. The last time I saw her was at Aunt Stella Zuzel´s funeral, and we sat and ate at the same table. We had a nice conversation.

I am so sad that she is not physically with us, but she will be so happy to see all her friends and relatives, who have gone before her. My mother passed on July 20 last year, so I know what you are going through. Coci, I love you and will miss you.
You are in God´s loving arms now and forevermore. Kiss my mother and father for me.

Love,
Mary Elaine Pilok Corallo
