Kenneth Kizis Obituary

Kenneth J. Kizis, 65, of West Wyoming, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, after courageously battling cancer.

Born in Kingston, Kenneth was the son of the late Joseph and Helen Kizis. He dedicated over 40 years of his life working as a phlebotomist at Nesbitt and General Hospital. Alongside his phlebotomy career, he was a skilled drywaller throughout his life.

Kenneth deeply cherished time spent with family, friends and his dogs, Addy, River and Jet. He had a passion for playing pool, hunting, fishing and golfing where he was a member of Emanon Country Club. Above all, he took immense pride in his son, Matthew, whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Jack Kizis.

He is survived by his beloved son, Matthew Kizis and his wife, Jennifer, Philadelphia; loving partner, Jodi Brown, West Wyoming; brother, Charles Kizis and wife, Rhonda, Australia; best friend, Morris Walker and his family, Wilkes-Barre; and nieces and nephews.

A visitation and memorial service to honor Kenneth's life were held at Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville, with the Rev. Shawn Walker officiating.

I knew Kenney for 65 years. Our parents were neighbors and they were such good friends they followed us to Illinois the year Kenney was born. In Mt teenage years and early 20's Kenney and I played pool and cards at Dob's pool room in Exer. Kenney was a good pool and card player so we teamed up and won a couple of pool and pitch tournaments. We hunted abd fished at his brother Jacks' cabin and played a little baseball on hus brother's softball team. Our lives took different direction in family and work until Kenney needed a partner in a golf league 2 years ago. We managed to make the playoffs our first year. We deer hunted and played cards at mycabin and had a great time and he managed to spend Thanksgiving dinner with us last year. We began golf season again this year a had alot of fun. I sure wish we had more time together because the time we had was great. We will miss you my friend!

I met Kenny when I moved to Exeter in 9th grade, 1974. We became fast friends and drove back and forth to West Side Tech in Pringle along "The Back Road" through Swoyersville. We shared a love of music, concerts and spending time with our group of friends.
I moved away from the area after high school but would run into Kenny from time-to-time when I was back in the Valley visiting family. It was always fun catching-up.
Rest easy my dear friend. You will most certainly be missed.
