Ken was born Sept. 23, 1956, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He passed away Friday, May 22, 2020, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
His early life was spent on a farm in Tama County, Iowa. During his teenage years, he lived near Northome, Minn., on Island Lake Resort. Ken graduated from Northome High School as valedictorian. He moved back to Iowa, then to Texas where he earned his chemistry degree at TCU.
Ken loved learning and traveling. His master's degree in business was obtained from the University of Phoenix. He lived in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Chicago, San Ramon, California, Kona, HI, Chen Chun, China, Michigan and finally Pennsylvania. He loved scuba diving and became a dive master while living in Hawaii. Highlights of his diving experience were night diving with manta rays in Hawaii and a trip to Fiji with his nephew, Adam.
Extensive travel in the states, Europe and Asia fed his adventurous spirit. He was delighted when he could share his love of traveling while being a tour guide to family members. Teaching became a passion which led to the opportunity to live and teach business classes to university students in China.
He met his wife, Emily, in China. He delighted in teaching and explaining the culture and customs of the U.S. to her. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
