Leona Pawlaski Obituary

Leona J. Pawlaski, 89, of Hunlock Creek passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Nanticoke.

Leona was born in Larksville on Oct. 2, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Stradomski) Jankowski.

Leona was a graduate of St. Mary's Parochial School, was a former member of All Saints Parish in Plymouth and a former member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society.

Leona had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great cook. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; a son, Stanley; sister, Edna Simonovich; and brothers, Wesley, Joseph and Benjamin Jankowski.

Surviving are her children, Jule Scott and her husband, Herb, with whom she resided; son, Girard "Jerry" Pawlaski and his wife, Marianne; grandchildren, Karen Rakowski and her husband, Gene, Andrea Knorek and her husband, Dr. David, Stanley Pawlaski and his wife, Colleen, Sara Scott, Herb Scott III and Kevin Pawlaski and his wife, Marde; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rakowski, Caleb Reakes, Annika Knorek and Joanna Pawlaski; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood Nursing Home and Celtic Hospice for their compassion and care shown to Leona during her illness.

Private funeral services were held from Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville. Private interment will be held at a later date.
