Marian Salonick Obituary

Marian Margaret Salonick, 91, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Marian was born in Kingston, living most of her life in Wilkes-Barre Twp. with her beloved husband and family. She was the daughter of the late Dewey and Hazel Kishner Sheldon. She was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1948. Marian was employed as a medical secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Marian was an active member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she would regularly volunteer as a lector.

Marian, "Honey," "Darling," "Mom," "Nana," "Mitzi," "Aunt Marian" was loved by all who knew her. She loved to go for coffee with family and friends, and taking her grandchildren on "Nana Fun Days." She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done, always dressing for success, as well as vacationing in warm climates where she could lay in the sun by the pool. She was truly the glue that held our family together. We will always carry her memory in our hearts. She will be missed.

In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 54 years, her "Darling," Francis Andrew Salonick; her daughter, Judith Naples; and her brother, Elwood Sheldon.

She is survived by children, Curtis Salonick, Wilkes-Barre; Paul Kleist, Wilkes-Barre; Linda Sauers, Avoca; Musette Goralski, Monkton, Md.; Damian Salonick, Yardley; and Nadja Colangelo, Hampstead, Md.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marian's name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.

Dear Salonick Family,
I am a classmate of Curt's and just recently talked to him over the computer. I too have experienced the loss of both my parents in recent years. Your family had been in my prayers with the passing of your. If you need someone who knows what you going through please do not hesitate to get in touch with. Maybe when I visit Wilkes-Barre in the near future we can have such a discussion. Remember all the times who enjoyed being with your mom. See you soon , a concerned classmate from the class of 1971.
