Martha Stacey Richards, of Welles Street, Forty Fort, died Thursday, June 3, 2021, with her son by her side.
Born in Plymouth over a century ago, she was a daughter of the late Willard J. Stacey and Alice Symons Stacey. She graduated from Plymouth High School.
Mrs. Richards had resided in Forty Fort for the past 35 years with her son. Martha was an employee of The Old River Road Bakery and finished her working years as a member of the circulation department at the Eugene Shedden Farley Library at Wilkes University.
Martha was both a working mom and a homemaker extraordinaire. Along with her husband, Robert R. Richards, one of the founders of The Citizens' Voice, they made many sacrifices so their son, Robert W. Richards would be the first member of their family to attend and graduate from college.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Mrs. Arlyne Soblewski.
She is survived by her son, Robert W. Richards and close family friends, Mrs. Ruth Krakosky and Dr. Laurie Ayre. Mrs. Richards also remains a favorite of many of her son's former students from both his public school and university teaching career.
A private service will be held from Kielty-Moran Inc. Funeral Home, 87 Washington Ave., Plymouth, with Sister Martha Hanlon, R.S.M. officiating. Interment will be in Forty Fort Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made in Mrs. Richards name to: Wilkes University, Attention: Advancement, 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre PA 18766.

Bob I remember working with your Mother when I was a Circulation Dept. student assistant at the Farley Library from 1971-75. Your mom was such a lovely, lovely woman. I remember her as such a kind, soft spoken, beautiful person. It was such a pleasure knowing her Bob. Stay well and treasure your memories. Joan
