Mary Ann Youells, 78, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, following an illness.
Born April 7, 1944, she was the youngest child of the late Michael and Julia Semko Yanoka, Glen Lyon.
In addition to her parents, her beloved daughter, Christine, preceded her in death.
Mary Ann was a 1962 graduate of Newport Twp. High School and attended Wilkes-Barre Business College.
She was very proud of her volunteer work with Planned Parenthood, Wilkes-Barre, where she volunteered hundreds of hours before becoming a full-time employee. She later worked at Genetti's Best Western Hotel, Blum Bros. Bridal Boutique, and most recently Fainberg Furniture until her retirement in 2014.
Over the years, she enjoyed meeting and connecting with people through her work, including many lifelong friends.
Mary Ann had a lifelong love of animals and will be missed by her furry companions, Bunny and Mommy.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, David Youells; brother, Robert Yanoka, Glen Lyon; daughters, Denise Klus, Kingston; and Michele Hatch, Point Pleasant, N.J.; sons-in-law, Jeffrey Klus, Kingston; and Bob Hatch, Point Pleasant, N.J.; grandsons, Patrick Klus and Jason Klus, Kingston; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Plymouth.
Family and friends are invited to meet for Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Plymouth. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery, Plymouth Twp.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with Parastas service at 7 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Bruce Saidman and Medical Oncology Associates, Compassionate Care Hospice, Dr. Guy Fasciana, Dr. Michalene Torbik, Dr. Gary Verazin, Jay Carroll, and the staff of Wilkes Barre General Hospital 5 East for their compassion, care and support.
In lieu of flowers, those interested may make a memorial donation in Mary Ann's name to Medical Oncology Associates RX Fund, Planned Parenthood Keystone, Ss. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Plymouth, or a charitable organization of their choosing.
