Michael Sedlak, 78, of Avoca, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, while in the loving arms of his wife and two daughters in the home he had built for them 40 years earlier. He was born in Dupont, Jan. 10, 1944, to two loving parents, the late Michael and Rose M. Lello Sedlak.
Michael was a member of Queen Of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. He was a graduate of Dupont High School, Class of 1962 and was employed by the Leslie Fay Garment Company. During his tenure there he completed several programs in computer-aided design and coding at Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, N.Y. Mike retired in 2002 with 37 years of employment as a CAD production manager.
Mike was an avid, life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State football. He loved his family and time spent with them. He thoroughly enjoyed every dish of his wife's home-cooked meals, each prepared with him in mind. He savored the quiet simplicity of tending to his lawn and garden, which was always vibrant and pristine. He loved taking walks outdoors and his daily drives in solitude. He tirelessly split wood for the warm and comforting fires he enjoyed building for his wife. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Sedlak and his infant sister, Mary Sedlak.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosanne O'Malley Sedlak; daughters, Lisa Allardyce and her husband, Tom, Moosic; and Michelle Pane and her husband, John, Moosic; and grandchildren, Maille, Jack and Michael Allardyce and Sydney Pane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, with the Rev. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Family and friends who are attending the services are strongly encouraged to abide by the CDC guidelines to take precautions and wear a facial mask when entering the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miles for Michael, Luzerne Foundation.
