Our brave boy, "Our Nathan," the Super Hero laid down his sword after a six-year battle with cancer on Jan. 6, 2022, at home with his family by his side.
He was born July 16, 2013, and in 8 years, he taught us more about life, love and trust in others and faith.
For those who had the privilege to know him, know that he had the final say and some of his last words were "I'm ready to go to Heaven." Our sweet boy won his battle and will forever be our guardian angel.
Nathan had a smile that could light up a room and even on his worst days he tried to make others feel better.
He leaves behind a legacy. Nathan has touched the local community and the world with his determination, love of life, and his drive to live everyday. He has given others a reason to fight and stay strong while making us laugh with his goofy antics.
He will be sadly missed by his loving parents, Jeffrey and Patricia Gray; the bravest big brother, Jeffrey, 10; and the love of his life, his little sister, Natalie, 6. His grandparents John and Patricia Singer, Wilkes Barre; Jeff and Sandra Gray, Upperco Md.; two great-grandmothers, Gwen Singer and Lucille Schuetz, both of Wilkes-Barre; many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly, especially Auria Singer, 3, who looked up to him and he adored with all his heart.
He certainly had a beautiful heavenly reunion with his Bes Nonna, Claudia Lombardo and is most likely going round for round with his namesake, Wendel, as neither of them was always right but they were never wrong.
Nathan was in third grade at St. Nicholas St. Mary's school and not only leaves behind a school, but a community within itself, who loved him dearly and has left many tiny hearts broken into pieces. SNSM family, we thank you for the friendships and the strength the whole family needed over the years.
A special thank you to Liz and Michelle from Hospice of the Sacred Heart, the hundreds of nurses, the doctors at Geisinger, CHOP and Sloan who loved our boy like their own. And to everyone who held our hands over the last six years.
May Nathan eternally be running, playing and swimming like any 8 year old deserves.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. Nicholas Church, South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. Nathan's favorite orange and any other bright colors are encouraged to be worn.
Private funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family from Daniel J Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, Wilkes-Barre.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Give Kids the World at gktw.org who provided the family with more memories than they can count.
To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Dear Gray and Singer Families.
I am so very sorry to learn of Nathan´s passing, and equally sorry I was unable to express my condolences in person. Suffering
the loss of a loved one is something we all, as humans, have in common. The loss of a child must make one´s suffering almost inconsolable. I hope you will find some comfort knowing that those who know and love you are suffering with you.
May God hold and protect Nathan and all of you at this extraordinarily difficult time.

Tricia and Jeffery,
I didn't know Nathan or your family. But, I DO KNOW that you gave birth to a little boy who was to do God's work here on earth. There is nothing more that our Lord wants than for us to learn faith and give love. Nathan was the person God used to teach us this. You birthed an angel. Our life here on Earth is frail and short. Nathan made a difference in this world, and now he has moved on to touch our next life. Through your emense sorrow, keep your eyes on the gift God has given you in Nathan. You will be with him again someday. Pray to him for intercession, for he IS special. May you find peace in this tragic circumstance. Nathan had a purpose which was fulfilled. God bless you and your family.

While we all prayed for a miracle daily, Nathan was performing the greatest miracle ever- bringing thousands of people together in our community and beyond, all in a unison rally for this precious little soul. His kindness and enormous strength has left a legacy that will never be forgotten and he will live on in our days ahead with acts of kindness and our hearts forever. Dear Gray Family,
There are simply no words that I can say to alleviate your pain, however Nathan, everyone´s Superhero is in pain no more. For that I know we are thankful as we are called to be. I will never understand the reason but I pray that you take comfort in the thought that you all gave him the best life, care, support, and family that he so graciously deserved. Your strength and determination has been a true inspiration to all and again I pray that you all will continue to be blessed with those remarkable qualities as you continue living life a little differently. This world and certainly our community stand with all of you as we mourn the heartbreaking loss of a precious life gone way too soon. We also stand united with you all as we pray together and support your family in the times that are ahead. My God grant you the peace, comfort, and the will to get through this most difficult time knowing you are not alone in your suffering. Just as the community loved Nathan, your best Guardian Angel, we will love you all and help as we are all willing to do. May Nathan's young life be an example to all and may his unwavering strength guide you all.
God Bless You All,
Beth Ratchford Ross,

While never having met Nathan in person, I have followed him and the family, first through my son Erik and then through Nathan´s superhero page. I feel blessed to have watched his growth, strength, and love. Prayers to all the family and friends of the Gray family. Nathan is a role model and superhero to all people he has left behind. Heaven is a happier place with Nathan´s smile and earth is a sadder place without it. Rest In Peace Nathan.

Even though I didn´t have the privilege of knowing Nathan personally, I feel like I did. My daughter is in Natalie´s class and I started following Nathan´s story last year. How such a tiny person could bring together a whole community is amazing. His life touched everyone, including complete strangers, like me. I pray for your family during this difficult time and my heart breaks for you. Nathan will never be gone, his memory will live on forever.
