Peter Dragon Obituary
Mr. Dragon was born in Kingston on May 31, 1932, and was the son of the late Peter Leo Sr. and Mary Okraszewski Dragon.
Peter was the youngest of four children who were born and raised in Luzerne. He graduated from Luzerne High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant in Korea for 15 months with the 45th Thunderbird Division from Oklahoma. Peter was later reassigned to the 24th Division from Japan.
Peter was employed as a food inspector by the USDA for 41 years. He served for 20 years on the board of directors for the Wyoming County Sheep and Wool Growers Association.
Peter was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 283, Kingston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo and Chester Dragon; and sister, Helen Petroski.
Peter is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Gertude Pilosi; sons, Mark A. Dragon and his wife, Cheryl, Harveys Lake; Peter L. Dragon III, Wilkes-Barre; and Matthew J. Dragon and his wife, Ling-Ling, Lake Township; daughters, Mary Dragon Stavrinos, Dallas; and Donna Dragon-Oschman and her husband, Stan, Shavertown; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church, 16 Second St., Harveys Lake, with the Rev. Daniel Toomey officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to Lock Haven University Foundation Wrestling, 224 Thomas Fieldhouse, Lock Haven, PA 17745, or the Lake-Lehman Wrestling Club, c/o Cheryl Dragon, 1319 Schoolhouse Road, Harveys Lake, PA 18618.
