Scott J. Smith, 37, of Catawissa, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct, 13, 2021, from a motor vehicle accident.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of Linda M. Smith and the late Delbert E.D. Smith. He attended Easton High School and was a graduate of Hunterdon County Poly Technical College, N.J., earning a diploma in plumbing and heating. After completing the licensing requirements, he owned and operated Scott J. Smith Plumbing and Heating in the greater Lehigh Valley area.

He was a longtime member of the Harwood Volunteer Fire Company, Hazle Twp. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, camping and off-roading in his Ford vehicles. He especially loved spending time in the Tennessee Smokey Mountains.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert E.D. Smith.

He will be sadly missed by his fiance, Nichole Earnhart; daughter, Eleanor; mother, Linda Smith; brother, Shawn; nephew, Harold; aunt and uncle, Ellen and Joseph Hudak; and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Andre Bessette Church, 668 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
