Scott R. Stonier Sr. age 74 of Sweet Valley, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp., surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Meshoppen on March 23, 1950, and was the son of the late Leon and Doris Stonier.
Scott graduated from Tunkhannock High School and then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, earning the Bronze Star. He retired from the Benton Foundry after 25 years of service, retiring in 2012. Scott was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Leon and Walter Stonier; sister, Doris "Susie" Keefe; and canine companion, Jade.
Scott is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Betty Rosencrans; children, Kelly Stonier, Melissa Johnson and her husband, Owen, Scott R. Stonier II and Tiffany Craze and her husband, William; brothers, Charles, George and Kenneth James Stonier; grandchildren, Jerimya, Cherokee, Montanna, Olivia, Walter, Khristiana, Jada and Kayla; great-grandson, Thane; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of the family who he considered grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
