Thomas J. Froncek Sr., 75, of Dallas, passed into eternal life unexpectedly Sunday morning, June 13, 2021, at his home.
His loving wife is Beverly Kobeski Froncek, with whom Thomas would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on July 29.
Born on March 27, 1946, in Pittston, Thomas was one of three children born to the late George Peter Froncek and Mildred Mary Fedorka Froncek.
Raised in West Wyoming, Thomas was a graduate of the former West Wyoming High School, Class of 1964.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Thomas honorably served his country for nearly four years during the Vietnam War, serving aboard the USS Ranger as a communications technician radioman third class. He was decorated with the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Service Defense Medal.
Prior to his retirement, Thomas was employed as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Following his retirement, he went on to work part-time at Irem Temple Country Club, Dallas.
A proud veteran, Thomas was a member of the American Legion, Post 672, Dallas, serving as its past secretary, and a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 396, Wyoming.
Thomas greatly enjoyed going on biannual vacations with his wife; his sister and brother-in-law, Pattie and Butch; and their friends. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing darts and coaching his children's little league, softball and mini football teams.
Family was the center of Thomas' life and he cherished every moment he shared with his loved ones. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and he reveled in each of their accomplishments. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, George and Mildred Froncek, Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Froncek Stark; his brother-in-law, best friend and "Bro," Frank "Butch" Conniff; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Kathleen Kobeski.
In addition to his wife, Beverly, Thomas is survived by his two loving children, Tami Orlando and her companion, Kevin Burke, Wilkes-Barre; and Thomas J. Froncek Jr. and his companion, Whitney Hudson, Charlottesville, Va.; his three adoring grandchildren, Logan Orlando; and Piper and Pierce Froncek; his beloved sister, Patricia "Pattie" Conniff, West Wyoming, with whom he shared a close bond; his brothers-in-law, Gary Kobeski, Plains Twp.; and Clifford Stark, West Pittston; as well as his numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, which will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday from Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. Joseph J. Pisaneschi, pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Twp., where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy.
Family and friends are invited to Thomas' viewing which will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Tom was my mail carrier for a bunch of years, and we shot darts at the Legion together. We always had a good laugh together. He will be greatly missed. God speed, my friend.
