Thomas Lasky Obituary

Thomas S. Lasky, 89, of Dallas passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Kingston, Tom was the son of the late Peter and Mary Lasky. He was a graduate of Kingston High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Wilkes College.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the European Theater as a staff sergeant and medic. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star.

Tom began his work career as a "self-taught machinist" at Wellington Pump, and then worked as a chemist for Rohm & Haas in Philadelphia. Later he worked for the IBM Corp. on the early installation of mainframe computers all along the east coast of the United States After a number of years, he returned to the Valley and worked with his father at their company, Life-Kleen Oil Filters, which held a number of oil filter patents. He concluded his working career with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pensylvania, retiring as the vice president of operations in 1992.

Tom enjoyed fishing and weekends with family in their country cabin.

He was a member of the former St. Mary's Annunciation Church in Kingston.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Hope E. Lasky; by his son, Thomas J. (Skip) Lasky; and sister, Frances Sieclicki.

Surviving are his sons, Jeffrey S. Lasky and wife, Nancy, Moutain Top; and Mark D. Lasky and his partner, J.J. Nayavich, Dallas; daughter, Lisa L. Lasky, Dallas; nieces and nephews; and loyal dog, Stella.

In accordance with Tom's wishes, private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
