William J. Ball, 72, of Mountain Top, passed away early Friday morning at his home.

Born in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Gus and Evelyn (Elliot) Ball.

Bill was a Nanticoke High School graduate and an honorably discharged Marine Corporal who served in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969. He received two Purple Hearts and the Presidential Unit Citation.

He was employed as a line leader by the former CertainTeed.

Bill loved his family and cat Boots, entertaining everyone, shooting pool and working in his yard.

Surviving are his wife, the former Anne Gaffney; son, Bill, Nanticoke; daughter, Robin and her husband, Patrick Barrett, Plymouth; many brothers and sisters; grandchildren, Raiden Ball, Daniel Barrett, Kody Urbanovitch and Liam Rose; many nieces and nephews; stepsons, Frederick and his wife, Jeneen Rose; stepdaughter, Jacquelyn Rose.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

McNulty Funeral Home, 494 E. Butler Dr., Freeland is in charge of arrangements.
