On Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, a cherished friend and member of our community, Dr. Wilson Young, lost his courageous battle with a rare bile duct cancer called intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Theodore; daughter, Emma; mother, Lisa; and brother, Norman.
Born in Harlem, New York City, Wilson Young grew up in Scarsdale, N.Y. At Scarsdale High School, he was a hurdler on the track team and could often be found playing ultimate frisbee. Wilson studied biochemistry and English at Columbia University and enjoyed playing basketball and watching cartoons on Saturday mornings. He attended New York Medical College, where he received his medical degree as well as his Ph.D.
Wilson loved the sciences and became a well-established cardiologist and researcher in the field. Wilson was most recently director of cardiac electrophysiology at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, where he specialized in cardiac electrophysiology, heart rhythm diseases and cardiac ablations. In his spare time, Wilson enjoyed playing with his kids, video games and detailing his electric car.
Wilson will be laid to rest Tuesday at Chun Fook Funeral Home, Flushing, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a contribution to the Dr. Young MD/Ph.D. Scholarship fund at New York Medical College, with notes to designate funds to The Dr. Young Scholarship Foundation, in celebration of Wilson Young's life and to honor his memory, at https://nymcalumni.org/give.

So sorry to hear this sad news. He was my Dr. at Geisinger and felt very safe in his hands. Such a young man with great spirit. So saddened for his wife and children. God speed.

Did not know him well, but he was a great and fun person the little interaction I had with him at the hospital. I wish the family peace at this time of loss.
