Ada France Obituary

ABILENE - Ada France, 81, of Abilene, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at KU Medical Center. She was born March 12,1 923, in Abilene, the daughter of Floyd and Ada McClanahan Atkinson. She attended local schools and graduated from Abilene High School. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Brethren Church in Abilene. She married Clarence R. France on April 13, 1941, in Abilene. They spent all their married life in the Talmage and Abilene area. Mr. France preceded her in death on July 6, 1991. Survivors include a son, Richard Eugene France, Corte Madera, Calif; a daughter, Sondra Ann Murnahan, Olney, Texas; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Gerald Atkinson, Abilene, and F.W. Atkinson, Minneapolis; two sisters, Sarah Kuntz, Abilene, and Winona Koelling, Onaga; and other relatives. Besides her husband, Clarence, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee France, in 1968; three brothers, Dwight, Wesley and Lee Atkinson; and a sister, Almeta Atkinson. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Brethren Church in Abilene with Rev. Richard Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, where friends may call until time of service. The family of Ada France suggests that friends may contribute to the United Brethren Church, Abilene; KU Medical Center Cancer Unit; or Hope Lodge of Kansas City, Mo. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
