Barbara Perry

NORMAN, OK- Barbara Perry passed away on February 26, 2008 at Arbor House Reminisce Center in Norman, OK. Barbara Ann McCormick was born on June 14, 1922 to Edith and Donald McCormick in Topeka, KS where the family owned a rug and contracting company. She graduated from Colorado University, Boulder in 1943. She married Harry A. Perry II, when he returned from WWII in 1947. In Topeka Barbara and Harry grew up together, were leaders in the community and church and had 3 children; James, Lynn and Chesley. The family made two moves, first to Barrington, IL in 1963 and Oklahoma City in 1970. The family enjoyed summers in Bernardston, MA at the Perry Farm. Barbara was an avid golfer, mah-jongg and card player. She was active in Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Urban Renewal and The Junior League in Topeka, The Oklahoma City Museum of Art and The Junior League of Oklahoma City. She was married to Harry for 59 years until his death in March 2006. Barbara Perry is survived by her son James L. Perry II of Fort Worth, TX; her daughter Lynn VanOrnum of Bloomington, MN and her daughter Chesley Potts of Norman, OK; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Topeka, KS at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials to Heartland Hospice in Norman, OK or the charity of your choice are welcome.
