Dorothy Eyman Obituary

EMPORIA - Dorothy Lee Eyman, 82, Emporia, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Kingswood Manor in Kansas City, Mo. Dorothy Lee Tobler, the daughter of Jacob Earl Sr. and Frances Lucinda Allison Tobler, was born at Kansas City, Mo., on Feb. 3, 1922. She graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, Mo., in 1939. She married W. Blake Eyman at Kansas City, Mo., on Dec. 20, 1944. He died Jan. 27, 1989. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Earl Tobler Jr. Surviving family members include a son, William Blake Eyman Jr., Emporia; children she happily adopted, Gene and Kay Jacob, Emporia, Earnest and Iris Tamayose, Pearl City, Hawaii, Paul and Ann Sakamoto, Kahului, Hawaii; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Dorothy worked for 25 years with her parents in the family business, Tobler Flowers, in Kansas City, Mo. She and her husband later owned and operated Riverside Gardens Florists in Emporia from 1956 until they retired in 1980. She ma de corsages for Eleanor Roosevelt. She taught classes at KSU, was a featured designer at state florists conventions and while operating Riverside Gardens in Emporia, she conducted yearly kindergarten tours in the 60s and 70s. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Emporia. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Memorials have been established with the Flower Fund of Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Emporia Friends of the Zoo or Emporia Public Library for large print books, with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
