Ella Fisher Obituary

On October 28th, nearly 4 years to the date of the loss of her husband Charles, Ella Marie Williamson Fisher died at age 90. She was born in Topeka, Kansas to the famed architect Thomas W. Williamson and Edith Ann Williamson. She was an adventurous, intelligent, fun lady with a wonderful sense of humor. She was a driving force in our family. She loved to spend time with her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildrens sports ability, attending many of their sporting events through the years. Oh, did we mention she was competitive? She loved to play tennis and golf and played golf each week as a member of the Topeka Country Club and The Ocean Reef Club at Key Largo, Florida until very recently, beating most people she played. Ella was an avid traveler and spent many winters sailing the Bahamas with her husband Charles S. Fisher Jr. who preceded her in death. Ella loved to read and paint in oils and was a board member of the Mulvane Art Center. She loved animals, especially her dogs Peaches and Buddy. She will be missed by her family Vicki Loebsack Peterson (Gary), Kay Loebsack Mettner (Randy), Sue Loebsack Bolley, and Cindy Loebsack Sundgren, as well as by her step children Michael Fisher (Donna), Cheryl Fisher Cailteux (Cletus), Mark Fisher, Linda Fisher Spencer (Darrell), Charles Fisher III (Jamie), Janet Fisher Webster, and Anita Fisher Longoria (Ernie). She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 8 step-grand children, 12 great grand children, and 2 step-great grand children. She is survived by her sister Lillian Payne-Johnson of Bella Vista, Arkansas and her sister in law Alice Williamson of New Mexico. Her brother Dorwin Williamson (Alice) and step granddaughter Azure Fisher preceded in death. As one grandson stated, the world lost a little class today and all believe life will be more boring without her. The memorial service is planned for November 19th at 3:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A reception is planned for after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Christmas Bureau, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66604, with gratitude from her family. I remember Ell as a strong, free spirited, and artistic woman who was devoted to my dad for many years. A woman who loved family, life, animals, and nature. She made sure that we had something fun to do, and I will always cherish the fond child-hood memories of the holidays and times the entire family spent together. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared comfort her family now and in the days ahead. God Bless, Charlie and Janie
