Erna Anna Schumann Dieckmann Boyer

NETAWAKA - Erna Anna Schumann Dieckmann Boyer, 90, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at the Holton Manor. Erna was born Nov. 1, 1913, at Netawaka, the daughter of Max and Meta Zwonitzer Schumann. She was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Netawaka and was a member of the Ladies Aid at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Kurt, Arndt, Fritz and Harold; three siblings who died in infancy; and a granddaughter, Deanna Jo Weick. Erna married Walter Dieckmann on Feb. 16, 1938. He died May 20, 1966. They lived in the Netawaka community all of their married years. She was a homemaker, a wonderful mother and a loving grandmother. Survivors include a son, Robert Dieckmann, and his wife, Karen, Fairland, Okla.; two daughters, Betty Weick, and her husband, Norm, and Marilyn Forgy, and her husband, Fielden, both of Topeka; eight grandchildren, Tammy Moore, Kim Weick, Cindy Edmonds, Janelle Erickson, Stephen Forgy, Sherri Hartter, Luke Dieckmann and Zachary Dieckmann; 13 great-grandchildren and two to be born soon; a brother, Walter Schumann, and his wife, Edith, Wetmore; a sister-in-law, Frances Dieckmann, Netawaka; nieces, nephews and four step-children. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Netawaka Cemetery. Erna will lie in state after noon today at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where family and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. She also will lie in state an hour before service time Friday at the church.
