Fathia Mebed Obituary

As Fathia Mebed selflessly celebrated all our lives unwaveringly, it is time that we all join together to honor hers. Born in Cairo, Egypt on February 26,1924 and later traveling to the United States with her husband Dr. Ali Mebed and two children Zenab and Abdel, she created an extensive family from everyone she met until she peacefully passed on November 30th, 2008. She loved her healthy and happy (I am, grandma) grandson with all her heart. All other arrangements have been completed privately so we hope that you will come to tell stories and remember Fathia on Sunday, December 7th at the Governors Row House located at 811 SW Buchanan Street in Topeka, KS at 12:00 p.m. Food will be served at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of any flowers we ask that donations be made in her to Florence Crittenton Group Home 2679 Arrowhead Rd. Topeka, KS 66614. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting the family. To leave a message for the family online, visit www.PenwellGabel.com. Fathia Mebed

Zenab,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a special person. I barely knew her and she always acted like I was her very good friend! she seemed to really love people and was so interested in their lives and their stories. How lucky you are to have had a mother like her! I know you will miss her. Her life made a big difference in this world. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

The loss of your mother will be like an empty void in your life. May your memories sustain and comfort you when you need to reach out and know that she is at peace now. You will always find that she is with you, in comforting rememberances and thoughts of her love and her devotion to her family.

Dear Zenab, Abdel, and Alex,
Mine will be only one of many, many heartfelt words about the sweet gentleness and joy that your mother (and grandmother) imparted to all. She embodied what a mother's love is all about: Come into my kitchen, How ARE you, I love you! We have all experienced that wonderful welcoming love from her. You all are the great legacy of that love.
Much love to you all. She will be so missed! Diane

Zenab, Abdel and Alex - I cannot begin to tell you what wonderful parents (and grandparents) you had. It brings a sense of peace to me to know that they are now together again. Your mother gave her love and understanding to everyone who touched her life. I can hear her laughter and see her beautiful smiling face as I am writing this to you. My love and thoughts are with all of you. As always, Patty

My Dearest Zenab, Abdel and Alex:
I loved your mother as if she were my own!! We had 44 years of sharing some of our greatest times and I can not tell you how wonderful it was to have lunch with you, your mother, and Dana, and to laugh and really enjoy life as we did on Tuesday, November 25, 2008. I believe that gathering was for a reason. The angels peacefully took your mother and she is now reunited with your father in heaven.
My love to you always, Syd
