George Menge Obituary

George Henry Menge, 74, of Topeka passed away Friday, August 24, 2012. George was born April 28, 1938 in Birmingham AL to Milton and Isabel (McLaughlin) Menge. George attended Gonzaga High School in Washington DC. He married Marion Taylor May 8, 1959 in Washington DC. She survives. He worked for the Library of Congress, General Services Administration and then as a contract specialist for the U.S. Postal Service Material Distribution Center, retiring in 1992 after 24 years. George was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Marion, Topeka; his children, Jim Menge (Kimberly), Topeka, Ann Arnold (Tom), Topeka, Joe Menge (Judy), Peculiar MO, Theresa Joseph-Casey (Tom), Greeley CO, Jean Schroeder (Phil), Vaughn MT, Patricia McCaffrey (Mike), Lawrence, and John Menge (Felicia), Peculiar MO; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Family will greet friends Monday, 6-8 p.m., where a parish rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd., Topeka KS 66614. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2700 SE Virginia Ave., burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.kevinbrennanfamily.com. George H. Menge

So sorry to hear of George's passing. Sincere condolences to the family. I knew George since the 1960s, then in Va., thru his interest in trains, traded train color slide photos w/ him for years, and we still were exchanging Christmas cards.
