Gerald Schrempp Obituary

Gerald L. Jerry Schrempp, 61, of Topeka, passed away Mon. May 25, 2009 at Midland Hospice House. He was born Feb. 16, 1948 in Englewood, CO, the son of Donald J. and Clara B. Ellis Schrempp. Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Topeka High School and was a resident of both Maple Hill and Topeka. He was a machinist for the Santa Fe (later the Burlington Northern) Railroad for 34 years, retiring in 2008. Jerry loved to tinker in his garage and was able to repair almost anything. His one great passion was his family, especially his grandchildren. Jerry married Marsha Prescott on October 20, 1967 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Staci Pershall (Roy); a son, Casey Schrempp; grandchildren, Madeleine, Julia, Charlie and Ruth Pershall, all of Topeka; his mother, Clara Reece of St. Marys; a brother, Wally Schrempp (Cheryl) of Maple Hill; a sister, Mindee Reece of Topeka; an uncle, Homer Ellis of Topeka and mother in law, Connie Prescott of Topeka. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, a brother, John Schrempp and his step-father, Harry Reece. In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Schrempp was cremated. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Thurs. May 28, 2009 at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW. Urish Rd., Topeka, KS 66614. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Fri. May 29 at the funeral home with inurnment to follow in Lynn Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice House and sent in care of the funeral home. Marsha, Staci, Casey, Madeleine, Julia, Charlie and Ruth -

We can't begin to imagine how hard it is for all of you. Jerry loved you all so much. You are blessed to have such great memories and and be able to share stories about your husband, father, and grandfather. He truly was a remarkable man.

He was a great friend and we miss him already. We are sure that he'll keep everyone laughing in heaven.

Marsha and Family-

Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Jerry and my Dad had been best friends for many years, and his friendship was very special to him.

Several years ago, Jerry helped my Dad move into an apartment . It was raining that day, but he was willing to help. That has always meant a lot to me.
