James H. Jim Duncan

LAWRENCE- Funeral services for James H. Jim Duncan, 46, of Lawrence, KS, will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2006 Lecompton United Methodist Church in Lecompton. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton, KS. Jim died Monday, January 16, 2006 at his home, an extended family home sponsored by Community Living Opportunities for developmentally disabled persons. His primary caregiver and mentor was Rodney Speirer. Jim knew and loved and was loved by hundreds of people who accepted his as he was a enjoyed his friendliness, handshakes, and hugs. He was always ready to meet old friends whom he could recall with an amazing memory and make new ones with a ready smile. He was a gentle soul with a friendly laugh. He was born November 29, 1959 in Topeka, KS the son of John Howard and Ellen (Skinner) Duncan. He attended public special education classes in Topeka and then transitioned to Cottonwood, Inc. while continuing to live with his parents until he was twenty-nine years of age. He is survived by his parents, of Lecompton; a brother, Douglas Duncan and his wife Carla, nieces Katie and Molly, and nephews Kory and Sam of Kansas City, KS. The family will greet friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. The family suggests memorials to Community Living Opportunities or to the charity or donors choice and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
