Jesse Denny Obituary

BURLINGAME- Jesse George Jay Denny, 86, Burlingame, died Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at the Topeka VA Hospital. He was born June 10, 1919, at Elgin, the son of Loren and Anna Bodine Denny. He grew up in Asbury, Missouri. He served five years in the US Army during WW II, and was part of the D-Day Invasion. Jay farmed for several years in Lyon County. He was a boiler fireman at the United States Supply Depot at Forbes, where he retired. He lived in the Burlingame community since 1959. He was a member of the Burlingame Federated Church. He was a 50 year member of the IOOF Wilmington Lodge No. 57, Harveyville, and a member of the Edward Ted Rowe VFW Post No. 2709, at Scranton. Jay married Della Marie Masters, June 1, 1941, at Little Rock, Arkansas. She survives at the home. Other survivors include a sister, Geneva Kline, Burlingame; five granddaughters and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Marie Savaiano, who died November 1, 1970, and a son, Jay E. Buster Denny, who died July 29, 1980. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Taylor and a brother, Wayne Denny. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005, at the Burlingame Federated Church. Burial will be in Burlingame Cemetery. He will lie in state from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, where family visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to IOOF Wilmington Lodge No. 57, the Burlingame Federated Church or the Burlingame Historical Preservation Society, and sent % the funeral home, P.O.
