Joan Kathryn Renner Stringer
Horton - Joan Kathryn Renner Stringer, 88, Horton KS, previously of Topeka KS, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021.
Joan was born March 19, 1933, in Alexandria MN, the daughter of Nicholas and Kathryn Augustine Renner. She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1951 and from Washburn University in 1955. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority and Nonoso Society, Washburn, and a long-time member of Holy Name Church.
Joan married Stanley G. Stringer on August 31, 1957, in Topeka. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Robert (Debbie) Stringer, Kathryn (Mike) Hosfelt, Tom (Jeanette) Stringer, Dr. John (Talisa) Stringer, Joseph Stringer, Michael Stringer and Rose (Sam) Cuellar; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Linda Renner, Julie Stringer and Arlene Stringer; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
Joan was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Patrick, grandchildren, Nicole and Corey, her sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Otto Schnellbacher, brother, Jerry Renner, and brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Jody Renner.
Joan never missed any sporting event when her children or grandchildren were playing. She was their biggest fan and cheerleader. She loved playing bridge with her friends and was very good at it. She also enjoyed collecting thimbles and lighthouses and was an avid reader.
Joan's family will greet friends at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, the Topeka Zoo or Topeka Rowing Association and sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.

So sorry Mike, Rosie, and Stringer family on the passing of your sweet mom. She was so good to us in high school letting us come over and hang out. I have many fond memories of Joan. My mom just saw her last week at your brother's magic show, and she seemed to be doing well. We extend our condolences, thoughts and prayers. May the memories bring you comfort.
