Rev. Father Jose Roig Ferrer

The Rev. Father JosŽ Roig Ferrer, 77, died March 1, 2007, in Palma, Mallorca, Spain. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 6, in Palma. A memorial mass will be celebrated 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gonzalo Ferrer and the Rev. Lawrence Soler, as well as other priests, as celebrants. Fr. JosŽ, as he was affectionately known, was born in Costix Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. He studied at the Seminary of Mallorca. He was received into the priesthood on June 29, 1956. Fr. JosŽ was a professor at the University of Palma for 18 years and a professor at Santa Monica High School for 40 years. He founded the Christian Family Movement in Mallorca. He was active in Cursillos and led many retreats both in Spain and in the United States. Fr. JosŽ served Sacred Heart Catholic Church during the summer months for well over 25 years, as well as serving the central Texas community. He provided marriage counseling to many families throughout Texas. He is survived by his sister, Magdalena, and many nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family of central Texas.
