Mary E. Flowers

Mary E. Flowers, 82, of Topeka passed away Monday, March 21, 2005, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Concordia, the daughter of James Wesley and Margaret Mary Creek. She worked at Seymour foods, Duckwall's Gill's Concessions, Herman's Grocery, St. Francis Heath Center, Topeka YMCA and Topeka Rescue Mission. She enjoyed bingo, reading, bowling, watching her grandchildren's sporting events, tennis, fishing and watching KU basketball. She married Harvey Eugene Flowers on Aug. 17, 1940, in Topeka. He died Oct. 27, 1968. Survivors include her sons, James, Raymond, Aldred, Michael and John Flowers, all of Topeka; four daughters, Sandra Flowers, Mary Morgan, Cheryl Johnson and Patricia Bigelow, all of Topeka; two brothers, Richard Creek, Odell, Neb., and Bobby Creek, Topeka; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Aaron Flowers, Marysville, and Harold Flowers, Topeka, fi ve brothers, Wesley, Floyd, Wilbur, Ralph and Jim Creek, and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. She will lie in state from 12 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society or to Midland Hospice.
