Mary Siemers Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Siemers Mary Elizabeth Siemers passed away on Monday, October 3rd, 2016 at Trinity Nursing and Rehab Center in Shawnee, KS. Liz was born on February 26, 1954 in Kansas City, KS to John R. and Betty Thomson. She was a 1972 Wyandotte High School graduate , attended Columbia College and received a Bachelor's degree in Integrated Studies from Washburn University. Liz was a former member of the Barn Players, a performing arts group in Kansas City and was an alto with The Sweet Adelines of Kansas City and Topeka. Liz was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Topeka worked as an executive assistant at public television station KTWU in Topeka. Liz s passions included science fiction, doting on her grandchildren (who affectionately knew her as Gizzie), her nephews, and her many pets: Gypsy, Minnie Purrl, Kit Kat and Zig Zag to name a few. Liz was preceded in death by her parents and husband Pete Siemers and is survived by her brother Bill Thomson and his wife Lynne of Kansas City, her stepson William Siemers and his wife Deborah Sterne of Bangor ME, her stepdaughter Lara Siemers Kvasnicka and husband Jeremy of Lucas KS, nephews Ben and Sam Thomson, and grandchildren Rebecca and Daniel Siemers and Madison and Naomi Mansheim. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 16th at the Universal Unitarian Fellowship of Topeka. 4775 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS.
