NEW TAZEWELL — Anna Maxine Cline Giles, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday March 20, 2018 surrounded by her family.
She was born November 1, 1935 to parents G.E. and Eva Cline of Lonesome Valley, married to James D. Giles June 20, 1954 making Claiborne County their lifelong home. Maxine was an active member of First Baptist Church New Tazewell, working with Bible School, Acteens, Women's Missionary Union and The Joy Club, and an active member of GFWC Sodalitas. She was instrumental in the growth and development of the Claiborne County Fair Association and the Tazewell Jaycees and Jaycettes. Involved with numerous community and civic organizations, volunteer programs, and fundraising events devoted to the betterment of her community. An understanding and loving, wife, mother, sister and friend to many; always having the ability to make anyone laugh.
She is preceded in death by her parents George Elmer and Eva Poore Cline of Tazewell, TN; husband James D. Giles of Tazewell, TN; son James Richard Giles of New Tazewell, TN; brothers Donald Cline of Tazewell, TN, Charles Cline of Monroe MI; sister Charlene Cline Ferguson and brother-in-law Don Ferguson of Monroe MI; brother-in-laws Alvie Earl of Morristown TN, Morrison Dean of Monroe MI, Ralph Wilhite of Morristown, TN and Kenneth Duncan of Tazewell, TN.
Maxine is survived by daughter Donna Giles Bryant and son-in-law Donnie Bryant of Tazewell, TN. Daughter-in-law Elizabeth P. Giles of New Tazewell, TN. Grandchildren Anthony Bryant and Lauren Bryant of Knoxville, TN; Gordon Giles of Beaumont TX; Nathan Giles of New Tazewell, TN; Meghan Giles Tullis and husband Bear Tullis of Cincinnati OH. Great grandchildren Sadie E. Tullis and James L. Tullis of Cincinnati, OH. Sisters Wilma E. Wilhite of Morristown, TN; Irene C. Dean of Monroe, MI; Georgia C. Duncan of Tazewell, TN. Brothers Bill Cline and wife Mandy D. Cline of Harrogate, TN and Tom Cline and wife Wilma C. Cline of Tazewell, TN.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to First Baptist Church of New Tazewell (P.O. Box 248 New Tazewell, TN 37824) and Bethel Baptist Cemetery Fund ( c/o Aleen Campbell 2850 Cave Springs Rd Tazewell, TN 37879). Pallbearers will be Kent M. Duncan, Dennis Cline, DeLynn Cline, Trevor Cline, Alan Neely, and Michael Earl. The family will receive friends on Friday March 23rd from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held Saturday March 24th at 11:00 AM both held at First Baptist Church New Tazewell. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
