Funeral services for 50 year old Dean Allan Woodruff, Sr. of Clarinda, Iowa, were held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at the Walker Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda, Iowa. Pastor Walden J. Paige of the Clarinda United Methodist Church officiated the service. Dean passed away Sunday, April 15th at his residence. Memorials may be directed to the family. Funeral arrangements were handled by Walker Merrick Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.
Dean Allan Woodruff, Sr. was born on July 5, 1956, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Kenneth and Dorothy (Conaway) Woodruff. Dean attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs. On August 7, 1982, Dean married Cheryl Newman in Council Bluffs.
He worked as a fork lift driver for Con Agra in Council Bluffs. He was a member of ABATE. He loved his vacations in Colorado, riding his motorcycles, his children and grandchildren and his two Dobermans Max and Rusty. He was a big NASCAR fan, especially Dale and Jr. In general Dean loved life.
Dean is survived by his wife Cheryl of Clarinda, daughters Kathy and husband Shawn Dughman of Council Bluffs, Marlene and husband Mike Reed of Clarinda, son Dean Jr. and wife Pam Woodruff of council Bluffs, daughter Missy and husband Larry Williams of council Bluffs, mother Dorothy Head of Council Bluffs, sisters Sharon Madsen and husband of Council Bluffs, Nancy French of Council Bluffs, brothers Eldon Woodruff of Council Bluffs, Rusty Woodruff and wife of Council Bluffs, sister Ginger Woodruff of Pierce, Colorado, 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth in 1959, brother Gerald Woodruff and honorary brother Stan Hall.
